Party Censures Gov. Jared Polis

On May 20, the Central Committee of the Colorado Democratic Party voted to censure Gov. Jared Polis for his decision to commute the sentence of former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters.

Peters was convicted of tampering with election voting machines. She had coordinated with election conspiracy theorists and was attempting to prove the 2016 election was rigged.

The censure came after more than 600 lawmakers, party officials, and voters asked the CDP to take action. Roughly 90 percent of the participants in the virtual meeting on May 20 voted for the censure measure.
